    The principal of the test is to highlight where there has been a failure of the cleaning and disinfection procedures designed to minimize the microbial impact on surfaces/patients.  Cleaning procedures may have been poorly carried out and any subsequent disinfection is likely to be ineffective. This in turn may allow the proliferation of microorganisms leading to infection risks.

ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is an enzyme that is present in all organic matter – living, or once living – including blood, saliva, and bacteria.

    What is hygiene testing/surface sampling?

    The hygienic status of a given surface can contribute directly to the risk of an adverse outcome in safety. Samples are collected by:

    Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) techniques that provide data in real time. Whilst a small proportion of the signal generated is from microbial ATP, the techniques are not microbiological.

    The principal of the test is to highlight where there has been a failure of the cleaning and disinfection procedures designed to minimize the microbial impact on surfaces/patients.

    Samples from surfaces are collected by swabs moistened with extractant that releases the ATP from any intact cells, usually from product residue. The released ATP drives the enzymatic conversion of luciferin to oxyluciferin.

    The reaction produces a photon of light for each molecule of ATP consumed. Therefore, the amount of light produced is proportional to the amount of ATP present. Results are expressed in Relative light units (RLU) and the bigger the number the more ATP was present in the sample resulting from elevated levels of product residue on the surface tested.

    This means that cleaning procedures may have been poorly carried out and any subsequent disinfection is likely to be ineffective. This in turn may allow the proliferation of microorganisms leading to infection risks for surface/patient.

    We Can Provide Rapid Inactivation of COVID 19 and SARS-like Coronaviruses.

    Our decontamination services use an aqueous-based disinfectant that can rapidly neutralize highly toxic chemical and biological materials. The formulation:  is effective for killing pathogenic organisms including vegetative and spore-forming bacteria, viruses, biofilms, and fungi and for neutralizing highly toxic chemicals; utilizes very mild ingredients that gives it very low toxicity and corrosivity properties;  can be deployed as a foam, liquid spray, or fog on a wide variety of materials and surfaces.

    We use a mixture of surfactants, mild solvents, inorganic salts, a low concentration of hydrogen peroxide (~3.5%), a hydrogen peroxide activator, and water. The surfactants soften the cell walls of pathogens which allows the activated peroxide to penetrate to the interior for complete kill. This unique combination of mild ingredients works synergistically to kill persistent biological pathogens which has been demonstrated in testing at numerous government and private facilities and in many field applications – outperforming formulations that contain much harsher chemicals.

    Recent laboratory testing and field applications have demonstrated a high efficacy against pathogens of concern to human health, and in agriculture and food processing such as Coronaviruses, Listeria, E. coli, Salmonella, the African Swine Fever virus, the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus, Salmonella and E. coli biofilms, Avian Influenza, and Bacillus spores. Most of these tests were conducted in the presence of a high organic or soil loading.  We can effectively inactivate coronaviruses. In tests at Kansas State University, it was shown to rapidly and completely inactivate a >5Log10 concentration of Bovine Coronavirus (BCV) with a one minute contact time even in the presence of a 50% organic loading.
